Alzheimer's Society is here for anyone affected by dementia and we are passionate about ensuring that people can access support, information and guidance that is right for them. We are keen to reach people in all communities, including those who may be more at risk of being isolated through language, accessibility needs, identity or background.
The Role:
As a Community Link Volunteer you will be part of the West Sussex team and play a crucial role in building community links and raising awareness of the services that are available. You role will involve:
Creating and strengthening relationships with communities and individuals
Taking part in events and talking to groups to raise awareness of dementia and the support services available
Helping to identify people affected by dementia who can share their dementia story with their wider community and Alzheimer's Society
Signposting people to access services that are provided by Alzheimer's Society locally and Nationally
What skills do I need?
Have a confident and friendly approach and be committed to including people from all
backgrounds, treating them with dignity and as individuals.
Have a good knowledge and understanding of your local community
Have excellent communication skills and be able to talk to a variety of audiences (the
ability to communicate in languages other than English is not essential but may be helpful)
The role is flexible and is usually around 2-4 hours a month, however these hours may increase during December and May. You can increase your hours if you wish and and if it works for you.
