Who Are We?

Sport, Art and Play Camps run at The Bridge Leisure Centre in the school holidays.

The provision welcomes children aged 5-11 years and has a connection with the West Sussex Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme that supports children on free school meals to access such opportunities free of charge.

The Role:

The children have the opportunity to choose what they do each day to help ensure they get the most out of the camps. There is a wide range of sports on offer, ranging from basketball and football to more niche sports like fencing and kinball. Children are also encouraged to explore their artistic side with a dedicated arts and crafts area which offers themed activities depending on the holiday i.e., October half term will offer Halloween themed materials.

Full day camps run from 8:30am until 5:30pm, but half days and flexible times are offered.

We are looking for someone who is available to attend and support the holiday activities and work with current staff and volunteers to ensure the children get as much out of the day as possible.

The main responsibilities for the role are:

• Support current staff in the facilitation of sports and games

• Encourage children to participate in activities offered

• Help tidy and clean up during the camps and at the end of the day

• Engage with children to help them feel comfortable in potentially new surroundings and around new people

What skills do I need?

As long as you’re positive, encouraging and approachable you’ll fit the role well, you don’t need to be a skilled athlete or have an extensive knowledge of an individual sport.

Having a sport or art background is desirable but having a willingness to learn and help is just as important.
