West Sussex Mind is an independent local charity. We support people with their mental health, provide specialist training and campaign to improve services and promote understanding.
The Role
This online mindfulness group is for adults service users of West Sussex Mind and focuses on a general introduction to the skill of mindfulness based on the 5 ways to wellbeing.
Opportunities to learn techniques which help the attendees to slow down, focus on the present moment and notice what is happening in body, mind, and surroundings.
What's Involved?
Welcoming attendees into the online group and hosting the session to create a social, inclusive and fun environment
Hosting the activities within the session and facilitating conversation within the group
Implementing the Group Agreement and challenging Service Users if there are breaches
To have an understanding of the 5 Ways to Wellbeing and how this can support Service Users to take ownership of their mental health and empower independence. (Training provided)
Reporting back attendance and any issues raised in the session to the Social Activities Coordinators
What skills do I need?
What We Ask For
That you are practical, considerate of others, empathetic and patient
Experience or knowledge of mindfulness and appropriate activities for this group
That you are a confident communicator with good listening and facilitating skills
Have an enthusiasm for working with people
Competent technical skills to deliver this group online and understand workings of Zoom
Understanding or lived experience of mental health needs desirable, this is not essential for the role
