Tea and Chat Group

We are running a dementia friendly tea and chat group to engage the community for ideas of what they would like to see as part of the Sage House Model in the North of West Sussex. We want to enable people living with dementia and their carers to have a safe and welcoming space to chat in a social, friendly and non-judgemental environment. The key will be to talk about anything, keep it light-hearted and positive and steering conversations away from difficult or tricky topics. We want to encourage existing customers to return each week and welcome new customers.

About the Role

The role will mainly involve talking with customers, but there may be the opportunity to play a card/board game or do a jigsaw with them if they wish. You will also be assisting with making tea/coffee and  may be asked to help set the room up, although this is mainly done by the staff.

What skills do I need?

This role will suit people who have a friendly and enthusiastic manner and enjoy interacting with people on a range of topics. The role can sometimes be emotionally demanding, so it is vital to have and maintain good communication with Dementia Support staff.
