West Sussex Scouts Charity Trustee

Who Are We?

We are a youth organisation with over nine thousand young members across West Sussex and we are always looking for more adult support from Leaders, Managers and helpers.

Scouting exists to actively engage and support young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society.

The Role

We are looking for additional Trustees to strengthen the County Trustee Board. This is a valuable opportunity for both Scout volunteers and professionals from outside the movement to contribute their expertise at a strategic level. We would particularly welcome individuals with any experience in areas such as legal, finance, fundraising, or compliance.

As a Trustee, you will play a key role in governance, oversight, and ensuring the County operates effectively and sustainably. Your insight—whether gained within Scouting or through your professional career—will help guide decisions and enhance the support we provide to young people and volunteers.

As a Trustee you attend 4 County Trustee Board meetings a year, as well as the County Annual General Meeting. In addition you may also be required to attend other meetings or take on other trustee responsibilities either individually or as part of a sub team.

What skills do I need?

This is a primarily a governance role for which any professional or youth skills would be welcome. We are particularly in need of legal and financial experience.
