Who Are We?

Police Care UK is a charity for serving and veteran police officers and staff, volunteers, and their families who have suffered any physical or psychological harm as a result of policing.

We are independent of the police service, and are funded entirely by donations and fundraising – we receive no money from government or forces for our work.

The Role:

This is a new role that will involve using your initiative to find opportunities to raise funds in your local community. If you enjoy chatting to people, visiting new places and inspiring people to donate to the Police Care cause, this volunteering role for you. Community Fundraising Volunteers will hold an important presence in our local communities. They will organise a wide range of events and collections that raise vital awareness and funds for our services that support people who have suffered trauma as a result of their policing role.

As a Community Fundraising Volunteer, you will be supporting the fundraising team to help raise vital funds for Police Care UK. You will play an important role by organising fundraising events and activities within your local community. Community Fundraising Volunteers also act as ambassadors, helping to spread the word about the work of Police Care UK and encouraging and supporting local people, clubs and organisations to fundraise for us too.

What you will be doing:

  • Getting involved in researching and running local events, which could include anything from quiz nights to coffee mornings, to collections or sponsored walks.
  • Using your communication skills to chat and tell people about Police Care UK and why we need their support.
  • Using your imagination and creativity to suggest new fundraising ideas that could raise money for Police Care UK.
  • Researching the opportunities to deliver presentations and raise awareness of Police Care UK in the Community.
  • Attending local networking events and helping to recruit more volunteers for your local team.
  • Help raise awareness when asked of Police Care UK campaigns, projects and work.
  • Replacing and collecting collection tins from local shops, pubs or other venues.
  • Promote fundraising campaigns and share messages via social media platforms.
  • Distribute leaflets and information packs when required.

What's in it for you:

  • You’ll get the satisfaction of knowing you’re supporting people who suffered trauma as a result of policing by raising funds for our vital services.
  • This is a flexible volunteer role where you can give as little or as much time as you want. You can fit your volunteering around any other responsibilities or commitments that you have.
  • This volunteering role is a great opportunity to meet new people and build your communication and interpersonal skills.
  • You’ll have lots of fun socialising and attending a wide range of different events.
  • Opportunities to connect with other volunteers and the wider Police Family.
  • Volunteering should never leave you out of pocket. We pay any expenses related to your volunteering with us, including travel costs
