Who Are We?

The Phoenix Stroke Club is a charity based in Horsham, West Sussex that provides support to people who have had a stroke. We provide support to over 50 stroke members every week through our club days and groups. 

The Role: 

The Phoenix Stroke Club is a welcoming and supportive space for people in Horsham who have experienced a stroke or live with a neurological condition. We meet four times a week and offer a range of stimulating activities designed to restore confidence, enhance communication, and support mobility. In a safe and social environment, stroke survivors benefit from both physical and mental engagement while connecting with others who understand their journey. A hot, home-cooked meal is a highlight of each club day, and we’re currently looking for a volunteer cook to support our Tuesday group.

If you enjoy cooking and want others to benefit from your skills, we’d love to welcome you to our friendly volunteer team. Our members receive a two-course lunch, cooked on site, which brings comfort and joy to their day. You don’t need to be a professional, but just someone who enjoys preparing meals and being part of a team. Whether you're comfortable taking the lead or happy to assist with preparation, serving, or clearing up, we appreciate any help you can offer. We will support you every step of the way.

We’re looking for help on Tuesdays from 9.30am to 1.30pm. You’re also very welcome to stay until 3.00pm and join in with the afternoon’s activities alongside our members and volunteers. To help you get started, you’re invited to come along for a taster session - meet the team, see the club in action, and find out if it’s the right fit for you.
