Who Are We?

We’re a local charity with a big ambition: to help everyone face death informed, supported and pain free. Providing expert hospice care, we’re there for people in West Sussex and East Surrey when life comes full circle.

We also pioneer standards in end of life care through collaboration, research and training, reaching even more people facing death and bereavement.

The Role:

Help us with our Christmas Tree Collections as a Volunteer Christmas Tree Assistant. You will either be assisting your buddy who will be driving the van collecting the trees. Or you will be based at one of our drop sites across Surrey and Sussex, you will greet our drivers when they return and help them to unload their trees. You will also support with the administration of the project, such as reporting missed trees or handing our new routes. Full training will be provided.

Why we want you:

Help us collect and recycle Christmas trees, raising vital funds for our charity! Working in pairs, you'll pick up trees from supporters, trim them for easier loading, and transport them to drop-off points. This is for the assistant role therefore you will not be expected to drive. If you would like to drive for this event, please see our Volunteer Christmas Tree Driver role.

What you will be doing:

Helping to collect all trees indicated on route from the outside of their properties, loading the trees into the van and off-loading at the designated recycling facility. Assisting with directions to support the driver.

What's in it for you:

Satisfaction of helping St Catherine’s Hospice to support local people and their loved ones when its needed most. Full training and support throughout your role.
