For Storrington Area Help Scheme
Who Are We?
Storrington Area Help Scheme is a registered charity which offers essential transport to healthcare appointments within West Sussex e.g. doctors' surgeries, hospital clinics etc., when patients have no other means of getting there.
The Role
Volunteer drivers will take clients to healthcare appointments including hospital, doctors' surgeries, opticians and chiropodists. Journeys will be made in the volunteers own vehicle. Clients all live within Storrington, West Chiltington, Ashington, Washington, Thakeham and near surrounding area. The appointments will all be within the confines of West Sussex, with the exception of some appointments at Royal Sussex Hospital in Brighton.
There is no regular commitment, but volunteers are contacted by the office and asked their availability to undertake a specific journey.
Volunteers can always say no if the time and/or date does not suit them.
A mileage allowance of 50p per mile is paid to all volunteers.
The Help Scheme has a commitment to the safeguarding of vulnerable adults and all volunteers will be required to have a Disclosure and Barring Service Check (DBS) on enrolment. The Help Scheme will fund the cost of these checks.
