For The Phoenix Stroke Club
Who Are We?
The Phoenix Stroke Club is a charity based in Horsham, West Sussex that provides support to people who have had a stroke. We provide support to over 50 stroke members every week through our club days and groups.
The Role:
Do you enjoy gardening and spending time outdoors? If you have a few spare hours each week, we’d love to welcome you to our friendly volunteer team! The Phoenix Stroke Club, based in Horsham, runs weekly sessions for people who have experienced a stroke or live with neurological conditions. Our club offers a supportive and engaging environment where members can participate in activities designed to enhance confidence, communication, and mobility. Our garden is a vital part of the club. Thoughtfully designed to be accessible, it offers a welcoming space where members can relax or join in with gentle gardening tasks, whatever their ability.
For many of our members, this garden is especially meaningful, as they may no longer have a garden of their own or are unable to access it due to mobility challenges. Spending time in our garden gives them a chance to reconnect with nature in a safe and supportive setting. We’re looking for a kind and reliable volunteer to help maintain the garden. Tasks might include planting, weeding, watering, and general upkeep; nothing too strenuous, just enough to keep the space looking its best.
No formal gardening experience needed - just enthusiasm, interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
