Who Are We?

The Dame Vera Lynn Children's Charity support children under 5 with Cerebral Palsy and motor learning impairments to realise their full potential.

The Role

We are looking for a volunteer to assist our Trusts and Foundations Officer with their work.

This is a great role for someone looking to bolster their CV, flex their writing skills, or get more involved with charity fundraising.

We work with children under the age of 5 with cerebral palsy, chromosome abnormalities, and rare genetic conditions. We provide our services free of charge and much of our funding comes from grants. In this role you will be helping us to keep the charity doing what it has done for 25 years!

What will you be doing?

  • Identify and research relevant trusts, foundations and grant makers
  • Maintain accurate records on our database
  • Help keep information organised and precise
  • Prepare letters for posting

The role offers the opportunity to gain experience in trusts and foundations fundraising, develop writing and research skills, and contribute in a meaningful way to the charity’s impact. Hours can be flexible and the role can be carried out remotely or in the office depending on preference.

What skills do I need?

For this volunteer role, full training by our Trusts and Foundations officer will be given, there are no requirements to have previous charity experience.

However we are looking for people with:

  • Good written communication skills and an eye for detail
  • Interest in the charity’s mission, be reliable, willing to learn and be comfortable handling information confidentially
