Who Are We?

We protect and care for places so people and nature can thrive. Many millions share the belief that nature, beauty and history are for everyone. So we look after the nation's coastline, historic sites, countryside and green spaces, ensuring everyone benefits.

The Role:

Our Exhibition Hosts have a vital role to play in providing a quality, professional experience for our visitors, delivering a warm welcome, answering queries and looking after our exciting Turner's Vision at Petworth Exhibition.

What's involved? For the first time in 20 years, a wide range of JMW Turner’s artistic studies of the extraordinary landscape at Petworth House and Park will be exhibited in the very place that inspired him. Visitors will be able to discover more about his methods, and the impact Petworth had on Britain’s most celebrated artist.

‘Turner’s Vision at Petworth’ will include oil paintings and works on paper on loan from Tate and several private lenders. This range of objects gives a fascinating insight into Turner’s artistic approach, his experiments with colour and use of materials. They tell the story of his connection with the Petworth landscape, and with George O’Brien Wyndham, 3rd Earl of Egremont (1751-1837) who collected many of his works.

Our exhibition hosts:

  • Help in providing excellent visitor enjoyment by interacting with visitors in a friendly and courteous way and fielding general enquiries.
  • Invigilate our Turner exhibition in the exhibition gallery.
  • Provide security by monitoring visitor behaviour and carrying a radio.
  • Helping to protect interiors and collections from damage during open hours.
  • Be proactive in delivering a high level of customer service throughout the exhibition.
  • Becoming familiar with and then following the National Trust’s Health and Safety Policy at all times
